Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli, one of the most coveted as well as a quite controversial cricketer has achieved great heights in his career loaded with awards, trophies, achievements and accolades. Virat Kohli was born on 5th November 1988 in Delhi and is currently 33 years old. He is the former captain of the Indian cricket team.

Early Life.

He was the definition of the spunky, angry young man in the early stages of his career, born in New Delhi. Heat has always been his ally and hence the hot headed and aggressive nature that he carried has been a part of him.

Although this nature of his has not affected his achievements and quality as a player. Virat Kohli was raised in Uttam Nagar and in 1998 the west delhi academy was created, Virat at the age 9 was one of its first intakes and began his journey in cricket from here.

Ever since this day he has not looked back and gone on to conquer the game of cricket as well as become one of the finest players of the current generation.

In July 2006 he made his debut for the U19 Indian cricket team when they were touring England,India went on to win the series and Kohli averaged 105 in ODIs for the 3 match ODI series and 49 in the three match Test series.

This was just the beginning of Kohli’s class as a cricketer.

April,2007 was the time he made his T20 debut and went onto score 179 runs with an average of 35.80.

In July-August India went onto play the triangular series against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka where Kohli managed to become the 2nd highest run getter with an average of 29 in 5 matches scoring 146 runs in the series.

Kohli was on the road to become one of the best players of his generation with his consistency and persistence.

Kohli’s Achievements

Virat Kohli is currently a part of the International Indian Cricket Team and also plays domestic cricket for Royal Challengers Bangalore and has been a part of it since its inception.

He is considered as the best batsman of his era and between 2013 and 2022 he has captained India in 213 games across all formats. He has an amazing record of 40 wins out of 68 matches making him one of the most successful captains in Indian Test history. He made his Test Debut in 2011 and by 2013 he already made it up the number one Test Batsmen in the ICC Rankings.

He has been an achiever always and that is what has led him to major things in his career.

He won the ICC Mens Cricket of the decade 2011-2020 Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy and has also won the award for the ICC Cricketer of the year in 2017 and 2018 respectively. His extreme form and the knack for scoring runs and leading his team to victory has done wonders for his career.

He has also been awarded the Arjuna Award in 2013 and Padma Shri in 2017 which are notable achievements given to Indians for their work.

In 2016 he was named as one of the most famous athletes by ESPN and in 2017 as one of the most valuable athletes by Forbes.

These achievements have not only made him a star studded player but also help him build himself as a brand and launch various products under his banner in the field of lifestyle and health such as his brand one8 and Wrogn in the field of fashion and TooYum in the field of FMCG products.

Virat has had an extremely ambitious and flavourful journey in the world of cricket, he has managed to get India to the number one rankings in the ICC many times as well as done his job as the captain of the Indian Cricket team extremely well.

His fitness regimes and discipline have given direction to a lot of young cricketers out there that are trying to digest the fame and power that comes with the tag of an Indian Cricket Player.
