Rob Gronkowski once memorably declared, “Yo soy fiesta,” which translates to “I am party” in English. He is the one person that people least expect to be downbeat, such is his charisma. That is why when he came out with a tweet saying that he was bored, it set off a veritable tweetstorm on social media.

Now, for those of us with a less athletic disposition, saying we are bored means nothing. Quite simply, there is no game today, the playoffs race is heating up and we would rather sit and spend our Christmas and New Year seeing how the postseason brackets pan out. It is natural to be bored when one has so much to look forward to.

However, for someone like Rob Gronkowski, being bored could imply quite something else. He is one of the best tight ends to ever play the game. The last time he came out of retirement, he helped Tom Brady win his seventh Super Bowl. So, the import of his words hit differently.

I’m kinda bored ?…

Fans were quick to jump on it and hoped to see Gronk back in action on the football field with the season nearing its end and the postseason coming up. What a treat it would be to see a big game name like him coming back for the biggest of games.

@RobGronkowski Boy there’s a football team in Tampa that could use a Hall of Fame TE…

@RobGronkowski Resign with the Bucs then and go on a super bowl run with TB12 again. I’m missing Gronk spikes

@RobGronkowski We’ve been bored for 14 games. Come back home, Gronk. ??‍☠️❤️

Where does Rob Gronkowski fit best, if he comes back?

Tom Brady is the only one who can ever get Rob Gronkowski out of retirement. That is how it happened last time and if Gronk was to return, he would most likely go rejoin the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But as evidenced in the Twitter reactions, there are fans who would love to see him in other teams.

He might decide he wants to win one Super Bowl without Tom Brady, just to prove his greatness is not tied to the quarterback.

He could choose to keep enjoying the Florida weather and put two fingers right up to Bill Belichick by rejoining the AFC East with the Miami Dolphins. Imagine a team with Tyreek Hill and Rob Gronkowski together.

He could decide to go to Hollywood and join Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers and decide he wants to be the veteran guiding a young quarterback through the playoffs swamp. He could decide to return to the New England Patriots and give back to the fans that loved him so much.

If he decides to come back, there will always be an opportunity for him. Which team will get lucky, if anyone at all, is still unknown.
