The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) with a score of 176 runs for the loss of 3 wickets beat the Kolkota Knight Riders (KKR) who made 175 runs for the loss of 8 wickets.
Aiden Markram with his unbeaten 68 runs and Rahul Tripathi with his 71 runs helped the SRH team complete their ‘hat-trick’ of wins in this IPL2022. This time they beat the KKR team at the Brabourne stadium.
Tripathi walked in to bat when Abhishek Sharma, the opener, was out for 3. Kane Williamson seems to struggle in the powerplay. Tripathi managed to smack 4 fours and 6 sixes all over the field and Markram went for 6 fours and 4 sixes. Both the batters started attacking with their partnership growing.
The fight put up by Rana-Russell
Rana seemed to step up when he noticed his team in trouble. He was not timing in the perfect manner but managed to find the needed gaps. He scored 54 runs in only 36 balls. The bowling of the SRH team seemed to have helped him.
He was dismissed by Natarajan in the 18th over, but the SRH team could not relax with Russell still out there. For the 20th over the bowling was handed over to J. Suchith, a spinner. He was punished by Russell with 6, 6, and a 4 off the last 3 balls. The target set for the SRH team was 176.
Openers of SRH team fail
When entering the game, Williamson and Abhishek Sharma were in their top form, but were sent back cheaply by Russell and Cummins. This left the SRH team a mere 39 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in the powerplay.
Williamson seemed to be scratchy throughout the power play. The rate of the SRH team would be under 6 if it was not for 12 of Tripathi in the first 6 balls.
Markram and Tripathi turn the fortunes of the SRH team
Tripathi started his innings with hitting Cummins and Umesh for 4’s, but the shackles really broke with the 6 he hit off Russell.
He then hit Aman, the debutante, for 6 and 4 and also managed to hit Varun for 2 sixes and also a four in the 1st over of the spinner. This over went for 18 runs.
Tripathi made use of his big stride for getting to the pitch of the ball when playing Varun. When Varun finished his 2nd over, Tripathi was celebrating his fifty made in 21 balls.
Markram seemed to be a little slow, but this was affordable due to the ‘free-flowing’ strokes of Tripathi. He, also, did not spare Varun and managed to hit 6 and 4 and made 14 runs in the 2nd over of Varun.
Tripathi seemed to be in a hurry to finish off the game as this duo was reaching their century stand. This hurry got him into trouble and he fell when trying to hit Russell in the 14th over.
The SRH team needed 43 runs from 34 balls.
Markram managed to seal this win with his 50 in 31 balls.
