Newly crowned ONE strawweight world champion, Jarred Brooks received recognition from the state of Michigan following his ONE 164 world title win over Joshua ‘The Passion’ Pacio earlier this month.
‘The Monkey God’ shared an image on Instagram of himself being awarded the certificate of recognition with the caption:
“It was an honor yesterday I got a certificate of recondition from our state representative here in Michigan @electryanberman and @gewhitmer our governor ! James and I have been life long martial artists and appreciate Ryan and the state for the recognition !”
Brooks closed out 2022 in spectacular fashion, besting former strawweight titleholder Joshua Pacio in his own backyard when ONE Championship returned to the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila earlier this month. With the victory, ‘The Monkey God’ extended his undefeated streak inside the circle to 4-0 and 20-2 overall.
ONE Championship legend Aung La N Sang shared his enthusiasm for Brooks’ accomplishment in the comments on Instagram, saying:
“Great work! ???”

After becoming a world champion for the first time in his career, Jarred Brooks looks to spend some time basking in his victory alongside his parents. In an interview with ONE Championship, ‘The Monkey God’ discussed jetlag after traveling from the Philippines back to the United States but is making plans to spend time with his friends and family after recovering from his ffive-roundwar at ONE 164:
“Throughout the jetlag, I mean, you’re just eating with your, I live with one of my coaches, so I just chill with him. I chill with one of my teammates Justin Scoggins, he lives with our coaches as well. So we’re all just chilling.”
Brooks continued, saying:
“And I haven’t been to my hometown yet, but I plan on going to see my dad and see my mom, see the people that are really close to me to enjoy this world championship with me, that has been a part of it.”
