They defeated Delhi Capitals by 6 wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, and as a result, have moved to the top of the points table. After inviting David Warner and his team to bat first at their home ground, the side led by Hardik Pandya restricted them from posting a big total on the board. In the end, the Gujarat Titans’ batters chased down the target in 18.1 overs, and Sai Sudarshan, the young player, scored a fifty, securing another vital win for the team.
The Delhi Capitals were seeking their first win of the season but their batting performance got off to a shaky start. They lost Prithvi Shaw (7) and Mitchell March (4) in the powerplay. Despite David Warner and Sarfaraz Khan’s solid start, they could not convert it into big scores. Pacers Mohammed Shami and Alzarri Joseph made early inroads, while Rashid Khan, the star spinner from Afghanistan, picked up three wickets in the middle overs. As a result, Delhi Capitals only managed to score 162 for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. Shami and Rashid both took three wickets each and were the standout performers with the ball for the defending champions. Despite a pitch that favored batting, Delhi’s batters struggled to score big runs.
In response, Gujarat Titans’ Sai Sudarshan (62* off 48 balls), Vijay Shankar (29 off 23), and David Miller (31* off 16) were the key contributors with the bat. The Men in Deep Blue displayed clinical batting skills and successfully chased down the target in 18.1 overs, with 11 balls to spare.
