IPL 2020 News: BCCI Announce IPL postponed to April 15 due to Coronavirus.
The Indian Premier League this year could be postponed by two weeks after the franchises proposed the tournament begin on April 15. India has banned visas till April 15 and it would be impossible for overseas stars to join the Indian Premier League. Earlier, according to IPL 2020 news report, the franchises had said they were ready to play behind closed doors but not without their overseas players.
Effect of corona-virus on IPL
All stakeholders in the Indian Premier League have devised a formula so that there is no reduction in the number of matches. The postponement will also allow the foreign players to join the IPL from the start of the tournament.
Due to the visa regulation, sources within the IPL’s governing council said that the foreign players would not be available for the tournament.”Yes, foreign players will not be available. We will discuss this and other issues at our governing council meeting scheduled for March 14,” a source in IPL governing council had told ANI.
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Friday said that the national capital will not have any sporting events for a month to contain the spread of the deadly infection that has sent the world into turmoil with close to 5,000 deaths so far. Before Delhi, Karnataka has also expressed its unwillingness to host IPL matches, while Maharashtra has banned the sale of tickets.

The coronavirus disease was first detected in Wuhan in China’s Hubei province, in late December, and has since spread worldwide.
