IPL 2022 on 11-04-2022
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) with a score of 168 runs for the loss of 2 wickets beat Gujarat Titans (GT) who managed a score of 162 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has got over their defeats with successive victories. After they had swamped the Chennai Super kings, they have continued their attack. This was the 1st loss faced by the GT team in the IPL2022.
T Natarajan led the path to victory for the SRH team by striking first in the powerplay and continuing this, limiting the GT team to 162 for 7, though Hardik Pandya managed half a century.
The GT team would have landed with a few runs but for the ‘wides’. Ten of these came in the first over bowled by Bhuvaneshwar.
The GT total seemed to be big when Kane Williamson was struggling.
The seamers of SRH made early inroads
Bhuwaneshwar seemed to have tightened after he leaked 17 runs in the opening over. He managed to get Shubham Gill caught in the 2nd over. Natarajan also managed to cut the innings of B Sai Sudarshan, who was quite impressive with his 35 against the Punjab Kings.
Matthew Wade was out with a lbw by Umran Malik .
Abhinav riding his luck
Abhinav Manohar, once he had walked in, managed to carve a pair of 4’s off Malik. He even top-edged Bhuwaneshwar for 4 and also miscued Natarajan to ‘long-off’. Here Markan dropped a sitter. Abhinav was on 21 runs at that time and managed to get 2 more lives at 32 and 33. He was finally caught by Tripathi in the outfield on the bowling of Bhuvaneshwar.
Yorker King is back
Natarajan is back to his very best and has proved this in this IPL. He surprised David Miller with a bouncer and tucked him with ‘hard’ lengths. He conceded only 7 runs in the last over of the innings with his trademark yorkers. He finished the innings of the GT with a yorker and got Rashid Khan out for a duck.
Go-slow of SRH
The SRH team started off slowly with only 11 runs from the first 4 over’s. There was a chance of Williamson getting out in the 1st over. It was only after being saved, Williamson along with Abhishek managed to hit 31 in the last 2 over’s of the powerplay.
Abhishek used the bounce and pace of Ferguson to his advantage and picked him up for 4 fours in his 1st over.
Pooran, Williamson do the job for SRH team
Williamson found the needed release after being on 46 runs off 41 balls. He managed to scoop Ferguson over ‘short fine leg’ for a six. In the next legal delivery, he crunched Ferguson for a four and celebrated his 50 runs in style.
The SRH team seem to have suffered a hiccup after this with Williamson flapping an offcutter to long on. Ferguson shanked 2 sixes and 2 fours after he had dropped a tough return catch.
