Mumbai Indians (MI) with a score of 160 runs for the loss of 5 wickets, defeated the Delhi Capitals, who had made 159 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.

A mere 10 balls is all that it took to get DC team out of the season. Tim David was saved in the 15th over only due to the option of the review. This was when the equation was 65 runs in 33 balls. He faced 10 more balls and made the much ‘forbidden’ 34 runs, punishing Rishabh Pant and his team for a mistake that is going to haunt them eternally.

Bumrah Roars

The MI team had managed to have their say in the winner of the match.

Jasprit-Bumrah

The MI team restricted the DC team to 159 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in this game of ‘must-win’. Jasprit Bumrah played an extraordinary innings. He managed to hurry the batters even in a slow pitch and picked up impressive wickets. Prithvi Shaw was bounced out, Mitchell Marsh was caught at first-slip and Rovman Powell was clean bowled.

The Power of Powell

Tonight the Wankhade stadium was about ‘pace off the ball’. Rishabh Pant, a hitter, was going at 10 runs off 15 balls, later at 24 runs off 28 balls. Rohit Sharma seemed to be worse off with 2 off 13.

The DC team needed someone similar to Bumrah, who could take up the challenge of the conditions, they ‘up-stepped’ Powell. He had an understanding that the requirement was to bat time. He took a calculated risk only after he had assessed the pitch. In the 12th over Shokeen was hit for 20 runs.

He respected the conditions when he had to but managed to get his team back into the game.

Powell managed to make 43 runs off 34 balls.

The fight of the DC team

The DC team had 57% chances of winning at 5.1 overs, after Rohit fell, it rose to 62%.

The DC team had 43% chance of winning at 11.2 over’s, this rose to 51% after the fall of Kishan.

The DC team had 69% chances of winning at 14.2 overs and the equation rose to 77% with the fall of Dewald Brevis at 14.3.

The bowlers made all the effort to ensure they were in the game. At the 14.4 over, Thakur bowled to David. There was an instant appeal. The umpire, Tapan Sharma, seemed to be unmoved. Thakur and Pant had a lengthy conversation. All seemed to be fine till the replay. Ponting fumed and Pant kicked. David continued hitting 6’s. The DC team tried to hide the ball.

It was predicted that the MI team would have a big say in this very crucial match against the DC team. This DC team was under a lot of pressure after the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) managed to win against the Gujarat Titans (GT). This was an important match to take them to the playoffs.
