67 / 100

Delhi Capitals (DC) with a score of 207 runs for the loss of 3 wickets defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) who made a score of 186 runs for the loss of 8 wickets.

David Warner with his unbeaten 92 runs in 58 balls, can be considered as the ‘center stage’ set his team Delhi Capitals (DC) for a ‘comfortable’ win against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)

The DC team could manage a score of more than 200 runs due to David batting through the innings. This ‘Australian’ opener found Rovman Powell as the perfect ally. Their stand of 122 runs was unbroken. Powell managed to finish off with 3 fours and 6 sixes in 67 runs from 35 balls.

The SRH team could barely manage a ‘run a ball’ in the 1st half of the innings. They needed to score more than 10 runs per over. The requirement was 145 runs in 10 over with only 7 wickets standing. Pooran seem to be inclined as he managed to score 62 runs off 34 balls.

Warner walking the talk

From the very beginning Warner took the responsibility of delivering the goods. Though his 1st ball was not very accurate, he played the rest of the innings with precise judgment. He managed 3 boundaries in an over that was for 23 runs.

His inning was very impressive with ‘leg-side’ swats, ‘crunching’ straight drives, and also a clean ‘mow’ over long on.

In the 19th over, he managed to go to 92 runs from 58 balls.

Powell powers the DC team

The seal was set on the innings of the DC team with a 1st half-century of the IPL from Powell. He managed to smack the balls as far and as hard as he could and managed to clear the ropes 6 times, making 50 runs from 30 balls.

It took some time for Powell to settle and could managed only 19 runs in 18 balls. He seemed to slaughter the ‘unhittable’ Bhuvneshwar and also Abbott with ‘back-to-back’ sixes. One of these sixes covered a length of 104 meters over the cover. When he reached 41 runs there was a good chance of him being dismissed but the catch was misjudged by the fielder.

The SRH team stumbles out the blocks

Williamson had the lowest strike rate as compared to any opener who has faced 200 balls in any season.

Powell’s description of the pitch was very positive. Abhishek Sharma losing his wicket early on in this contest seemed to bring down the chances of the SRH team of winning this match. The team seemed to limp at 35 runs for the loss of 2 wickets at the powerplay’s end.

The SRH team was 48 runs for the loss of 3 wickets after 9 over’s. This means the requirement was more than 14 runs in an over. This rate did not come down at any time though Markram and Pooran gave it their best shot.
